The Dumb Die Fast, The Smart Die Slow is a 1991 Thai film noir directed by Manop Udomdej. The story takes place in 1983 and follows the character Salak, who escapes from jail after being caught trying to access a company's safe with his partner Tuang. Salak seeks refuge in the Betong district, where he finds work at a gas station owned by a man named Boonpreng. Salak, using the alias Charan, works hard to gain Boonpreng's trust. However, things take a dark turn when Salak discovers a safe in Boonpreng's house that his wife, Chanang, cannot open. The film explores themes of deception, trust, and the consequences of one's actions.
